Well dad milked, and while feeding the milk cows he could hear yelling down on the river. The neighbors' truck was still parked on the road. Well, it was a long day and was getting dark when he got home. Dad said he was milking a bit early and that Him and mom were going to Idaho Falls that day. Some days he parks on the road by the milk barn and walk down to the Salt River on our ranch.ĭad told the story that the neighbor stuck his head in the barn one morning while dad was milking and say, "good morning and I going fishing". I see his truck and boat go by lot of morning when milking. But he went fishing quite a few days each week. Then they de-louse up at the Sulphur hot springs.Īfter the Sulphur had been mined the owner, still farmed and help his wife who ran the pool and taught hundreds ok kids to swim. The trappers used to get Salt at the south end of the valley or up Stump creek in a little valley to the west. Growing up I smelled like matches in the summer, riding my bicycle up to swim in the little concrete pool. Just across the fence and forest road, from some of our dry farm alfalfa. ![]()
